We will be offering two types of classes this fall:
Since one hour is never enough, each class will be 75 minutes in length. And each class will be scheduled for the same day and time each week. You will still be expected to do the reading and projects between classes, but your questions will be answered in each class. Individuals in private classes will have the full attention of their instructor for the entire 75 minutes. Those students who enroll in group classes will have to share the attention of the instructor. We think that 15-20 minutes per student is fair. Some months will have five classes per month. This occurs naturally in a 52-week year, so please think of it as getting a free bonus class when it happens. Otherwise, there will be four classes per month, and billing will occur automatically on the same day each month.
We want everyone to get their money's worth with a minimum of four classes per month. If you are unable to attend a class, we would like to have 72-hours prior notice, and we will schedule a make-up class for you at that time. Otherwise, you will be charged for any class you miss without prior notice. However, we all get sick unexpectedly, even our instructors, so we will make exceptions to this rule unless excuses become habitual. If an instructor must cancel, then you will be notified ASAP so that you can reschedule your next makeup class.
If you prefer private classes, we will try to cater to a schedule that works best for you. If you prefer to take group classes, then you must choose one of eight weekly classes from the schedule shown below.
We will also have a free Slack channel for our enrolled students. If you need help before your next class, you can post your questions on Slack, and somebody will get back to you ASAP. Students can feel free to help other students. Most questions will be answered within 24 hours. Questions should be relevant to our course material and featured projects. Rude behavior could get you banned from the Slack channel, so please be polite and courteous to each other.
Our goal here is to offer you an inexpensive path to learning. There are many people who simply must work full-time, and they also have other responsibilities and expenses that prevent them from attending college after work. This website was created with these folks in mind. Five years ago, we started writing a book on front-end web development for beginners, but books on technology are often obsolete before they can be printed on paper. Therefore, it became obvious that a website that could be updated regularly would be the much better plan going forward.
Our Welcome Page explains our basic course of instruction. And we strongly encourage you to take these lessons in the order they were intended. If you can do that, there will be many fewer gaps in your knowledge base.
But colleges do require reading textbooks, even if the information in those books is out-of-date. Therefore, reading the text that goes with our lessons is essential to your success. We've tried to write our text as interesting, fun, and sometimes as humorous as possible to hold your interest. There are lots of expensive web development bootcamps available, but very few of them start at a novice level. We've taken a few of these courses ourselves, and found that they quite often talk over the heads of their target audiences. If you've already tried to take these kinds of classes, and found that you were left with more questions than answers, then we believe that our approach to learning basic front-end web development was designed specifically for someone like you.
Our highest goal here is to make you successful by teaching you the basic skills and required knowledge you will need to become a professional web developer. And if we manage to pay our own bills along the way, then our efforts here were 100% worth it. We are not a huge money-making marketing scheme with plans to make millions. We don't even allow advertising on our website! If you see us endorse a product or a corporation, it is because we believe in their products and services, not because they paid us money to say nice things about them. By honestly providing you with the best possible web development tools, we hope to save you money, and gain your trust at the same time.
For a limited time, we are offering free trial classes. And we will give you free access to our student Slack workspace along with that as well. But space is limited! We are currently planning to offer our first classes on Monday, October 12, 2026, pending final business-license approval. Please sign up using the link below to our Online Class Interest Form. And thank you in advance for your interest in taking online Zoom classes from us!
